Ministry of Finance of India: we do not recognize bitcoin as a means of payment

According to the Minister of Finance of India Arun Jeytli, the government of the country does not recognize bitcoin as a legitimate means of payment. This is written by the Economic Times .

When asked about the government's plans to regulate crypto-currencies, Jaytley told reporters that "recommendations are being developed at the moment."

"The government's position is clear: at present we do not recognize it as a legal currency," he added.
Earlier, the minister said that the Reserve Bank of India did not issue licenses to companies working with crypto-currencies, as well as the lack of an appropriate legal and regulatory framework in India.
